FSEO Alternative: When Your Store Needs More Than an llms.txt File
FSEO pitches itself as an AI search visibility platform for Shopify: it generates llms.txt files, tunes robots.txt, adds JSON-LD schema, and tracks AI visibility across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Grok. Per its App Store listing as of this writing it runs from free to $299/month, with a 4.1-star rating across 12 reviews. We make FoundRate, a different kind of tool in the same category, so treat this comparison as an informed but interested party's view.
The plumbing question
Most of what file-generation tools produce is real but thin. llms.txt is a genuinely useful convention (we publish one ourselves), robots.txt should welcome AI crawlers, and Product JSON-LD matters. But two honest facts change the math for most stores:
1. Most modern Shopify themes already emit Product JSON-LD, and a correct llms.txt takes an afternoon to write by hand. Our 2-minute check tells you whether you even have a problem.
2. Files don't tell you whether it's working. The question a merchant actually has is "when a shopper asks ChatGPT for the best product in my category, am I in the answer?" No generated file answers that. Asking the AI does.

When FSEO-style tooling makes sense
If your theme genuinely lacks structured data and you want the whole file layer handled in one place with multi-surface dashboards, a platform approach can be worth it, especially for larger catalogs with someone reviewing what gets changed.
When the alternative is the better first step
If you haven't measured, start there, because you might not need the plumbing at all. In our 82-store study, invisibility traced overwhelmingly to product data basics (thin descriptions, missing product types, sparse images), not missing llms.txt files. A free scan shows where you actually stand; the 12-point checklist covers the fixes; weekly re-scans confirm what moved. Spend on plumbing after the measurement says you need it.
